Privacy Policy

Enda Glacken ("I", "me", or "my"), an individual based in Ireland, operates Calm Screen (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how I handle information when you use the App.

The short version: Calm Screen is designed to work entirely offline. I do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All information stays on your device, including your children's names and ages which are stored using encrypted on-device storage.

1. Information I Collect

I do not collect any personal information. The App does not require you to create an account, provide your email address, or share any identifying information with me or any third party.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to me or any third party:

• Child profiles (names, ages, and avatars) — stored in encrypted on-device secure storage (SecureStore) for additional protection
• Watchlists of saved shows for each child
• App preferences (stimulation threshold, streaming platforms, dark mode, onboarding status)
• Recently viewed shows
• Notification preferences (bedtime reminder time, weekly digest setting)

If you delete the App, all locally stored data is permanently removed.

3. Children's Privacy

Calm Screen is designed to be used by parents and caregivers to manage their children's screen time. I take children's privacy seriously:

• The App is operated by parents/caregivers, not by children directly
• Child names and ages are stored exclusively in encrypted on-device secure storage (SecureStore) and never transmitted
• No child data is collected, shared, or accessible to me or any third party
• The App does not contain advertising, in-app purchases, or social features
• The App complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent EU regulations by not collecting any data from or about children

4. Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising

The App does not use any analytics services, tracking technologies, advertising frameworks, or third-party SDKs that collect data. Specifically:

• No analytics (e.g., no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, or Mixpanel)
• No advertising identifiers (IDFA) or ad networks
• No tracking pixels or cookies
• No crash reporting services that transmit data externally
• No fingerprinting or cross-app tracking

5. Push Notifications

The App may request permission to send push notifications for bedtime reminders and weekly digests. These notifications are:

• Generated and scheduled entirely on your device (local notifications)
• Not sent through any external server
• Fully optional — you can deny permission or disable them at any time in your device Settings or within the App

No notification data is transmitted to me or any third party.

6. Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate with any third-party services that collect or process user data. The App may use Formspree to process show suggestion submissions. If you choose to submit a show suggestion, the show name and optional details you provide are sent to Formspree for processing. No personal information is required or collected. Formspree's handling of data is governed by Formspree's Privacy Policy.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

Since I do not collect any personal data, there is no data to share, sell, rent, or disclose to third parties. I will never sell user data.

8. International Data Transfers

No personal data is transferred internationally because no personal data is collected or transmitted from the App.

9. Data Retention

All App data is stored locally on your device for as long as the App is installed. I do not retain any user data on servers. When you delete the App, all associated data is removed from your device.

10. Your Rights Under GDPR

As an individual based in Ireland, I comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since the App does not collect or process personal data, most GDPR provisions regarding data subject rights do not apply in practice. However, you have the right to:

• Access: Request confirmation of whether personal data is being processed (it is not)
• Erasure: Delete all App data by uninstalling the App from your device
• Object: Opt out of push notifications at any time via device Settings
• Lodge a complaint: Contact the Irish Data Protection Commission at www.dataprotection.ie if you have concerns

12. Security

All App data is stored locally on your device and protected by your device's built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). Since no data is transmitted over the internet, there is no risk of data interception during transmission.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. I encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
